It's another month of halcyon weather, oh yes. Changes are afoot, though ... the Roundup continues to build momentum, the Group Conscience meeting time has been bumped up to 5:30 pm and we've elected a slew of new meeting secretaries for the next six months. Still to be filled: Tuesday night Men's Meeting, Friday night LGBT meeting and Saturday morning 3-7-11 meeting. Also, the co-PI and alternate GSR positions need to volunteers. June Grapevine Article: "Restraint of Tongue and Mouse" "Recently, I harmed a fellow AA by using email carelessly and in a way that went against the spirit of our anonymity Traditions. Here’s what happened:" Quote of the month: "The less people tolerated us, the more we withdrew from society, from life itself. As we became subjects of King Alcohol, shivering denizens of his mad realm, the chilling vapor that is loneliness settled down. It thickened, ever becoming blacker. Some of us sought out sordid places, hoping to find understanding companionship and approval. Momentarily we did - then would come oblivion and the awful awakening to face the hideous Four Horsemen - Terror, Bewilderment, Frustration, Despair. Unhappy drinkers who read this page will understand!" Acronym of the month: HELP Check out the signup sheets for Roundup 2008. There are still plenty of opportunities to be of service this summer. Thanks!
Speaking of volunteers .... let them eat cake. The last sunday of the month ... we celebrate birthdays with cakes and other sweets. Thanks to our cake and coffee/tea people who keep us hooked up. Interested in contributing to our website or bulletin board? Have a favorite AA author or story? Been using a step workbook or meditation that really helps? Have some art or writing expressing an aspect of recovery? Contact Dave J. at 360-376-2464 or email webservant@orcasislandaa.org and we’ll get it posted, like THIS.
