It's the beginning of Fall and I'm still wondering what happened to summer. The end of August brought us the Orcas Island Roundup. It's incredible what a small group of highly motivated, service-oriented sober folks can bring to sobriety. 16 people, with some outside help, put on a great roundup for 75 guests over 3 days. Thanks and congratulations to everyone who made this event such a success. September Grapevine Article: "My Brother, My Truth" How do you make amends to an active alcoholic or to someone you can no longer reach?"Dave and I took turns sitting at each other's hospital bedsides as we took turns recovering from attempts at ending our lives. Sometimes it was I who watched my brother through plexiglass, adorned with city garments inside the city jail. At other times he watched me, as he sat clinging to a telephone with too little cord and not enough time to talk." Quote of the month: "If there be divorce or separation, there should be no undue haste for the couple to get together. The man should be sure of his recovery. The wife should fully understand his new way of life. If their old relationship is to be resumed it must be on a better basis, since the former did not work. This means a new attitude and spirit all around. Sometimes it is to the best interest of all concerned that a couple remain apart. Obviously, no rule can be laid down. Let the alcoholic continue his program day by day. When the time for living together has come, it will be apparent to both parties." Acronym of the month: BAR Speaking of volunteers .... let them eat cake. The last sunday of the month ... we celebrate birthdays with cakes and other sweets. Thanks to our cake and coffee/tea people who keep us hooked up. Interested in contributing to our website or bulletin board? Have a favorite AA author or story?
